Using Waste from Forest Biomass from working forests in Tasmania, Australia.
  "BIOWASTE"

Using waste from the forest during thinning programs or during harvesting is a sensible ecofriendly way of using a valuable raw material.  Generating electricity and producing biogas, biocrude oil  and other products is a way of controlling the valuable carbon resource, value adding and seeing that it is burnt or used to get the safest, cleanest and more cost effective use of the resource.
Tasmania will always have working forests and this 'biowaste' will always be being produced so lets use it.
The Tasmanian "GREENS" don't support this but the
Greens don't support anything that happens in our working forests.
We must support Tasmania's forest industry that produces GOOD Carbon  and  reduce the production of bad of Ancient Carbon
Other countries throughout the world are well aware of this valuable resource and are using it.                      .

What is GOOD and what is BAD carbon you ask?
GOOD carbon and we are really talking about carbon in carbon dioxide gas in our atmosphere it is carbon that has always been in our soil and atmosphere. It is part of what scientists call the CARBON CYCLE. It may be added to naturally from time to time by volcanic activity and from our oceans but in general it is at a constant level. It does not change.
BAD or ANCIENT carbon is carbon that has been 'locked up' in oil and coal deposits for up to, in some cases, 400 million years. This carbon in no way  affects our atmosphere UNTIL we drill for it or mine it and burn it, then it gets into our atmosphere increases the atmospheric carbon dioxide levels and aids in global warming.  This carbon is new to our atmosphere and is thought to be one of the main causes of Global Warming.
Once burnt and in our atmosphere its there for ever.

The Carbon Cycle

The Aim of this Web Page

The aim of this page and attached pages is to try and explain some of the things that go on in Tasmania's working forests, after all I live there. The aim is to show in simple scientific words some of the items that are being left out of the forest equation.
I am just a member of the public and am interested in getting the truth across.
I have science teaching background as well as a few other things.
Any questions are most welcome but please Greens don't waste our time with inaccurate, emotive rubbish, because it will just be shown up for what it is.
Thank you,
Mike Jagoe

Images above show small forest coups in different stages of growth. The 'Old Man' stump probably never saw a chain saw and was probable cut down by hand. He has witnessed two or three cycles of regrowth in the managed forest.

The GREENS twisting the truth

The Greens love to use emotional words like in this image 'BIOMASSACRE' and lots more. They try to control minds with stupid slogans and images like the one on the left. Two big pipes doing WHAT ?
They no absolutely nothing about the carbon cycle with good and bad or ancient carbon or should I say, "pretend not to know", after all the truth just gets in the way of their narrow minded, tunnel versioned agenda. They are not interested in the jobs of hard working Tasmanian forestry workers or any people who make a crust from working well managed forests.
The Greens stated policy -
Wood-fired Power Stations:  The Greens -quote "oppose the burning of native forests for fuel for industrial scale furnaces or power stations." WHY?

Support Timber Workers. Contact you local MP's local and Federal.
Chop down a Greenie TODAY.
Get our forests working again.
Trash the Forest Agreement.

NATURALLY RESPONSIBLE Green
I hope all human being on this planet we call Earth are responsible people concerned about the World's environment.
I hope we in some small way can help and not carelessly damage the environment.
I hope one day multinationals, corrupted this and corrupted that will be replaced by a world that really cares and is prepared to go with out to achieve that end.
That is a very, very big hope!
We have all heard what the World's true environmentalists have said - namely:-
Reduce the world's population. (Humans that is.)
Reduce industries demand for more and more expansion. {An expanding economy.)
Remember - If they can't sell it they won't make it. Stop buying newspapers, No papers no demand for news print, therefore no demand for wood chips.
Politically this is not a vote getter so the word that springs to mined to achieve it is
'BUCKLIES'!
Then of course there is good old Mother Nature and she couldn't give a toss.
There has been numerous naturally produced 'extinction events' over the Earth's history. The last one being
65 000 000 years. May be the next one will be caused by 'man' and we will become just another interesting fossil in the geological history of the Earth.
THINK ABOUT IT !

Again Biowaste is a clean energy source unlike oil and coal so until we have an even better alternative - use it and keep forest workers jobs safe.
